Got a few cars I would like to sell and it’s mainly older 90s classics, reason is they just don’t get used, I feel sell a few and buy one that I would use.

Thing is i despair selling cars, you tend to get the worst possible people known to man, what’s the best way these days, spoke to a classic car dealer yesterday and they literally don’t seem that interested or they want a 40%mark up.

Cars I am thinking of selling are an escort cosworth, slightly modified, more power and bigger brakes and wheels etc.
306 gti6 very very low mileage and never seen the rain, I have a few of these.

As you can imagine I just have a garage full of cars that don’t seem to move year in year out.

I completely can relate to this. The interest when you come to sell is just insulting, side step and mark everything down. I've had such empty promises, I'll write cheque for all 3, then completely blank me on the follow up. Absolute jokers, best mates when you are buying though.

It is hell.

Just put on your advert "Any time wasters or jokers will be called cunts to their face and on their social media platforms. If you are a time waster, expect to be called a cunt. If you cannot take being called a cunt, either don't waste my time or don't bother contacting me."

That should sort out the real buyers from the tyre kickers! ;)

And yet the moment you see that there is a myriad of shitty comments all saying "good luck selling your car with that attitude" you really can't win

I had a call today saying 'good luck selling McLarens if you don't open boxing day" the temptation to just say 'get fucked ' is over powering

It was tongue-in-cheek ... However, granted, it's a bit different when you're a dealer, for sure but, I would argue, if you're selling a car that somebody really wants and you have a good reputation, they would have to be really shallow or have an extremely fragile ego to be that bothered. Especially when you consider that if they are a true buyer you won't be calling them a cunt anyway!

Collecting Cars seems to be the best point to market and anything classic cars seem to have done really well on there from the 80s and 90s due to the correct age demographic

Details of the Cosworth? And pics?

Put them up at the right price and they’ll be gone with minimal pain as long as you filter the calls efficiently. Sold more cars than I can count privately and 98% have been painless.

92 big turbo 60k miles, literally as new, underside restored a few years ago, all new Michelin tyres, timing belt done and ready to drive, being picky the headlining is just starting to sag. Other wise mint as they get. Big brakes, morette headlamps, rondel wheels. 380bhp, files full of history, original headlamps included, garage car cover.

6k miles? Looks absolutely bloody incredible. Dare I ask how much that even would be worth?

Sorry to ask but why restore the underside? At 6k miles that borderlines insanity.

I have two escorts one with 37k miles and the other with 22k and neither have or needed underside restoration, both literally factory fresh underneath. Both have led well cared for lives that clearly helped them remain like this but 6k miles is nothing

That’s a typo, sorry 60k miles, fat fingers.

It’s a strange one, after owning it many years the insured value has always gone up, it’s insured for £100k as we speak, had to have the car valued a couple of times over my ownership as there is also abused cars out there, as for its actual value, that’s down to the buyer I would say, you can ask big numbers but there’s a limited market surely?

£80k give or take would be my guess to the right person?

It’s a typo, should say 60k, I never did the underside, I bought the car over 15 years ago, sold it when moving home, the chap that bought it did it (was spotless under neath previously anyway) I then managed to sort my finances and bought it back. It was such a great car I wanted it back, in reality as you will know all the cars you have there’s always some that just don’t get used, this is one of them.

Likewise. I've sold one car to a dealer - ever (as a trade in), all the rest sold privately with zero hassles.
