Hi,

I have booked my car in for Paint protection film, for the front end, and the company have recommended doing the bits that are most vulnerable to stone chips, like side skirts/lower section of rear bumper, and also the flared arch bit at the back.

Do you guys protect the whole car?.. or even at all?... Not sure if its something I should be worrying about, but have read lots of info on it, and people chatting about it on various forums? and seems like a good idea.

Any thoughts?

Ive got:

Bumper, bonnet, wings, mirrors, roof and any obvious sticky out bits.

I understand the argument on both sides but like the fact I can drive the car hard and not worry about the paint.

I’ll just remove the film come sale time.

I think if you are worried about the appearance of you car bit want to enjoy driving it hard(ish), especially in the company of others such as on road trips or track, then its something you definitely want fitted on your car.

If you are being recommended additional areas of fitment which are prone surfaces (fwd facing), and likely to be affected then its fair advice. I woukd suggest also, protecting thise surfaces that are prone to damage from debris being thrown off of the tyres too. In particular the underside of the rear bumper moulding can take a battering.

Thanks, that's pretty much what the company said, so that just reinforced my thoughts.

I intend doing road trips, and want to track the car, have never done so.. will be a HUGE learning curve!! My daily car has got so battered and is stone chipped quite bad, I have the new car love for this one, and I want it looking good for longer!

Knickers is not known as the king of cling film for nothing

Agreed, he did my first 4c and I used it hard , ended up with a couple of chips but considering the grief I gave it I was massively impressed having had cars done by others before.
Second 4c came part PPF’d , had issues so Alfa employéd a specialist to sort it and I paid to get the rest done . They work for Romans amongst others . I won’t name names but they are “ not the best “
Now going back to get peeling bits fixed under warranty.

I think as he says anything a stone can hit protect it, anything flying up can land , might be on the roof the rear etc . If it’s a keeper wrap the lot . If they have Niks attention to detail add in lights , grill surrounds etc

What car is it going on and what colour? I had most of the GT4 done, but didn't do the rear wing..... first good blast out and it got a bloody chip, being black it stood out.

I get all my cars fully protected. Depends on the value of the car though as it is potentially a lot to spend. Knickers has done a lot on here and everyone speaks very highly so he’s your man to ask advice from or use.

What is the car btw ?

Ok, thanks for the messages, I am thinking I may get other sections done..

My car is a BMW M4 Competition Pack, I bought it new a couple of weeks ago.. It's is an ex demo, so the car is 3 months old, but I collected it with 7 miles on the clock, which is the first time I have treated myself to a new car, so I have the new car bug and want to protect it.

Its a BMW M4, in Silverstone Blue.

I'd just get the front facing surfaces done then. Front bumper, wings, bonnet, full roof, sills and rear arches.

Cheers, I think apart from the roof, that is what they have booked me in for. I am trying not to drive it too much, as it will be a shame to chip it before the ppf. They were saying a guy bought a new GT3RS, and wanted to drive it from Nottingham to them, they offered to send a boxed trailer to him to collect it, but he said he wanted to drive it,. and it had a couple of chips by the time he reached them.. would be gutted!!
