Got one of these coming, stats are impressive

Dear all,
Back in the late 1950's, a family of mid-engined racers, using advanced four-cylinder flat engines and lightweight design, enjoyed incredible success. The 718, a successor to the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder, represented the highest configuration level of the four-cylinder flat engine. Whether it was competing at the 12-hour race in Sebring in 1960 or at the European Hill Climb Championship that ran between 1958 and 1961, the Porsche 718 prevailed against numerous competitors with its powerful and efficient four-cylinder flat engine. The legendary 718 is about to return!

Today, Porsche announces the new 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S. Starting with the first new model introductions of 2016, the 718 nomenclature brings the Boxster in line with all other mid and rear-engined sports cars, using a number to designate the series and a name to denote the model. The world premiere will take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March and the UK on-sale date is set for 30th April. The recommended retail price including VAT (RRP) is as follows:

718 Boxster £41,739.00
718 Boxster S £50,695.00

The new 718 Boxsters will both use an advanced and powerful 4-cylinder turbocharged ‘boxer’ engine, 2.0 litre 300-hp for the Boxster and 2.5 litre 350-hp for the Boxster S. This increase in power has resulted in best in class performance. In PDK form, a launch control start will accelerate the Boxster S from rest to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds and go on to a top speed of 177 mph. This increase in performance however has not come at the cost of efficiency. The Boxster, when equipped with PDK transmission, will return a average of 40.9 mpg and emit 158 g/km of CO2 on the NEDC combined cycle.

The 718 Boxster sees the introduction of the new generation of Porsche Communication Management which features a high resolution 7-inch multi-touch screen that forms the basis for a modern user interface. Standard features include Bluetooth® mobile phone preparation, audio interface, integrated CD/DVD drive and the impressive 110-watt Sound Package Plus. Further options available include the Navigation module and the Connect Plus module.

Connect Plus offers the driver multiple online services to improve their driving experience. Online Services such as Google Street View®, Google Earth®, real-time traffic information and online radio are just some of the exciting new services that connect the driver's vehicle to their everyday lifestyle. Connect Plus will also be the platform for all future Porsche online and connected services and platforms that are developed. For this reason Porsche highly recommends Navigation and Connect Plus be ordered by the customer. This is the same as for all Model Year H Macan - where Navigation and Connect Plus will give the most complete user experience. (Connect Plus is not available for retro-fit).

The 718 Boxster models have been comprehensively revised in a number of key areas: The Sport Chrono Package has been considerably improved and now includes the Model switch and SPORT Response button (in conjunction with PDK), that were recently launched last year with the 991 Generation II models, this provides a driving experience that is closer than ever to motor racing. The direct steering and chassis systems such as the optimised 10mm lower PASM, PTV and all new 20mm lower PASM sport chassis (available on Boxster S only) further sharpen the driving dynamics of the new 718 Boxster without any compromises to comfort.

A full product update will be posted on PPN shortly.
