The client had a very clear vision for her new kitchen; a mix of modern industrial and Scandinavian simplicity so opted for the solid wood, Neptune Suffolk, with its paired back look and clean lines.

Being a galley style kitchen, at first the client wanted to reconfigure the room to make it wider but eventually we came up with a layout that created space through framing the orangery at the end of the kitchen. The light from the orangery filtered perfectly through the narrow kitchen and we picked colours and textures that connected the two spaces together to make them feel like one flowing room. Charcoal paint on the cabinetry alongside antique bronze knobs and hinges matched the dark grey paintwork on the window and door framed in the orangery. This was then continued into their boot room and utility too.

With space being the main design consideration, storage was key in this kitchen. We added two larders, cupboards above the window and had some bespoke drawers designed to maximise every inch of space. The antique mirrored splashback behind the stove also helped to make the room feel larger.

Nice.

Who does the interior design work? It is very well designed and consistent in theme/palette etc.

Did you build the orangery too? Or was that existing?

As I asked before - budget?

We did the interior design for this inhouse and recommended the orangery company.

They spent £50k on the kitchen (solid hardwood & hand painted) and the £10k cooker was the centre price along with bespoke mirrored toughened glass behind it and various other cool touches we did. They also had ceramic worktops which we do as they didn’t want stain them and love cooking so could put boiling hot pans and trays onto them and also pre directly onto them without damage the tops....they are big cooks and love to entertain!

They were an old client from 5 years ago who wanted another kitchen in the new house.

We also did a bespoke boot room, utility and cloakroom for them which was accesss just off the kitchen.

In total I think they spent circa £200k all in as the orangery was expsnsvive as they wanted it made a very specific way.

We also did all the floor tiling for them.

There own builder who we worked with before did the under floor heating and all other building works.

All in all a great project which we have been lucky to have recently featured in a high street magazine as the client put our name forward along with another two we did last year which we were both contemporary high gloss ones that we randomly got asked if they could be featured as well!

I like to think we just do a good honest job of designing and delivering the project a client wants and if it’s leads to more work or recommendations which they normally do then we know we did our best.

Looks very good - as it should for £200k for a kitchen and orangery. Really top quality finishes by the look of it.

This is the forever home and they could of spent half of that but they didn’t want to so went all out and why not if you can afford it and get exactly what they want.....(they did get other kitchen quotes and ours was the best for value and quality and the only one that had actually fulfilled the design brief). There kids had just left home they are in the late 40s so wanted to enjoy there hard earnt money and a lovely couple they were to deal with to.

Agree entirely - it is worth it when you spend a lot of time in your home. Love the floor. Really like all of it.
